When I was growing up there was a tv show called Gentle Ben and the kindness and gentleness in that show melted my heart. It was about a mountain man who met a Bear that was so gentle and kind he named him Gentle Ben. That Bear was kind and so gentle to everyone he met. Gentle Ben reminds me of how our God is so gentle and kind and loves us so much. But when a storm is surrounding us it is so easy to lose our focus on God and put our focus on the storm. We need to keep our focus on God and not the storm.

1 Corinthians 13:4 says love is gentle and consistently kind to all. Kindness offered to another is a demonstration of the gentleness of our hearts. I know it is very difficult to offer kindness and gentleness to difficult people and a whole lot easier to demonstrate love through kindness and gentleness with those who are easy to love.

Loving with gentleness means conducting yourself with mildness and evenness of spirit. It is a display of love not found in extremes of emotion. Kindness is an action that elevates and honors another. Kindness offered to another is a demonstration of the gentleness of our hearts. I know with all that is going on in the world now and all of the hostility being shown on tv its so hard to think of love, gentleness and kindness but it can be done with the help of Jesus.

Psalm 117:2 tells us that God's kindness has melted our hearts. I know it has mine and I am so grateful. Let's make it a practice to melt hearts with gentleness and kindness through our courtesy to others. God's Spirit within us will enable that fruit to increase and grow.
